The AWC Coaching Staff is dedicated to the Mission of the Club. The Head Coach and Director of Wrestling Operations is Rod Gaddy; an Alabama State Champion who wrestled collegiately for Upper Iowa University. Rod had been coaching for 13 years in Central Alabama and has been a part of 6 AHSAA State Championship Teams. Coach Gaddy has also effectively led AWC to 2 USA Alabama Youth State Championships. Individually Coach Gaddy has developed 10 Collegiate Wrestlers, 12 High School National Champions, 55 Alabama High School State Champions and numerous Youth State Champions. The Freestyle Head Coach is Damir Zakhartdinov; a 3x Olympian and World Medalist, Coach Z brings an international presence to the room and his extraordinary skills were instrumental in developing and shaping the 2008 Alabama Team; a team that went on to have 1 National Champion, 11 All Americans, and 27 High School and Youth State Champions. An Assistant Coach is Tee Adams; a 2x Alabama State Champion and High School All-American who wrestled Collegiately at Upper Iowa University. Tee coaches in-season at Liberty Park. An Assistant Coach is Andre Paquette; a Connecticut State Champion and New Englands Champion. The Strength and Conditioning Coach is Shawn Weltzin; a two time Metro Coach of the Year who wrestled collegiately under Terry Brands at UTC - Chattanooga where he received his degree in Kinesiology. Shawn also coaches in-season at Thompson High School. The Youth Coach and Program Director is Glenn Albarado; an Alabama State Runner-up who has been coaching for 9 years. Coach Albarado helped lead his team to a USA Alabama Youth State Championship in 2006 and has developed over 30 Youth State Champions.
